Leaders & Community

The Muslim community in Rwanda is guided by respected religious leaders and scholars who work to promote Islamic knowledge, unity, and social development. These leaders represent the community in national and international matters while fostering peace and cooperation.

Current Grand Mufti

Sheikh Musa Sindayigaya

Elected in May 2024 as the head of the Rwanda Muslim Community (RMC). He leads Islamic affairs, focusing on promoting unity, strengthening Islamic education, and expanding community development programs nationwide.

Former Mufti

Sheikh Salim Hitimana

Served the community by overseeing the expansion of key Islamic institutions. His leadership helped bridge gaps in infrastructure, ensuring more neighborhoods had access to mosques and schools.

Scholars, Imams & Teachers

Our leadership extends to the dedicated scholars and imams in every mosque across Rwanda. They provide daily guidance, teach moral values to our youth, and facilitate interfaith dialogues that contribute to Rwanda's national unity. Through their service, they ensure that the values of charity, compassion, and peace remain at the heart of our community.
