Ramadan & Eid in Rwanda

Spiritual Reflection

During Ramadan, Muslims observe fasting from dawn to sunset, engage in Qur’an recitation, and attend Taraweeh prayers at mosques. Many communities organize communal Iftar gatherings, where families and neighbors break their fast together, fostering unity and compassion.

Charity and Community Service: Ramadan is also a time for giving. The Muslim community participates in Zakat (charitable donations) and organizes programs to support the needy.

The Joy of Eid

Eid al-Fitr: Marks the end of Ramadan with special prayers, feasts, and celebrations that strengthen family bonds and community unity.

Eid al-Adha: Commemorates the spirit of sacrifice and devotion, often including prayers, community gatherings, and charity for those in need.
